DIY custom steam radiator cover

I just designed and built another radiator cover. This is to fit over a small steam radiator that is in a bathroom. It just needs to be primed and painted. Underneath the top, there is heat-reflective material which will prevent the top surface from getting hot. This cover is like the three that I built while living in New York. I use Autodesk’s Fusion 360 CAD program to design the covers. A parametric modeling program makes it easy to copy and adjust the designs to suit the different radiator sizes.

    Thanks! I haven’t used Solid Works but have worked with a number of other 3D CAD programs. The last one before I retired from Brookhaven National Lab was Autodesk Inventor. Fusion 360 is similar to Inventor. I actually like Fusion 360 more. A lot could have changed with Inventor though in the 6 years since I am retired. Yes, it is fun!

    Nice! I used to do a lot of mechanical CAD work using Solid Works and other programs but I hadn’t heard of Autodesk’s Fusion 360. It looks like it gets the job done for you!

    I remember Autodesk’s Autocad, which was a 2D program I worked with years ago. 3D CAD work is much more fun!
